Yes, they are, but when you look at the total take for welfare programs you find the average is about $27,000 and as high as $67,000. To you and me maybe that isn’t squat, but to them that is public housing or a rent subsidized apartment, food, phones, etc, and allows then expensive sneakers, clothing, and an HDTV. It allows them to live while making very little money otherwise.
I know several “disabled” people that live on that and refuse, even though they are able bodied, to go to work and make more. One is 32 and the other 55 years old. Both could easily work but “disability” pays them about $700/month plus reduced utilities, food stamps of $270/month, free cable and Internet, reduced cell phone costs, free medical care, etc. To them working the disability/welfare system is their job.
How did they get disability/welfare?
The 32 year old had a work related shoulder injury. During surgery she claimed mental depression due to her childhood, which wasn’t bad she is just a total crybaby. Her State appointed therapist claimed she needed continued therapy and 100% disability was granted so she could get it. The 55 year old actually was kidnapped and tortured and raped for 3 days and she escaped through a plate glass window while the guy was out looking for a place to bury her body. For that, she claims mental instability, a 100% disability. Same deal: Therapist writes the note for continued therapy.
