The Republicans are the Waltons, the Democrats the Simpsons.

It's quite possible that absent voter fraud, Romney would have won a majority of the electoral votes. Whether voter fraud was extensive enough to account for Obama's popular vote plurality is harder to say, but possible.

Romney had several things going against him that may not be true next time--his Mormon religion, his diffidence about criticizing the President personally or touting his own virtues, and the fact that the rules were different for a black candidate. The first and third are not likely to be true in 2016 unless the GOP nominates Glen Beck and the 'Rats nominate Michelle.
