Rep. Jackson had three opponents, including a conservative, write-in candidate. Two of those three are black, but each of the those other Blacks got less than 10% of the vote. Jackson won because he had a “D” by his name.
The only serious competition for Je$$e Jack$$on Junior was Brian Woodworth, a white Republican. The write-in candidate was Anthony Williams, a black Democrat. The third candidate was Marcus Lewis, a black Democrat who ran as an independent.
