Obama knew? He was watching it as it happened!
The latest wrinkle may be that they were using weapons that he gave them: US weapons and ammo.
But he didn’t do anything. He just likes to watch.
Do we know that he did watch it as it was unfolding? I don't think any photos were released of the people in the situation room that night. Maybe he was told verbally what was going on in Libya, told Panetta and the rest to handle things, and then went to bed...he had to fly to Las Vegas the next day for a fundraiser.
Obama's brilliant Middle East policy led to this. Right now it could lead to much bigger things, if the Muslim Brotherhood regime in Egypt gets seriously involved in Gaza and we have the first Egyptian-Israeli conflict since 1973.
