A quick look at vv. 6-8 tells us of the nations involved: Edom (South Jordan, Palestinians), Ishmaelites (Saudi Arabia), Moab (central Jordan, Palestinians), Hagrites (Egypt), Gebal (northern Lebanon), Ammon (northern Jordan, Palestinians), Amalek (Arabs south of Israel), Phiilistia (Gaza Strip, Palestinians), Tyre (Southern Lebanon, Hezbollah), Assyria (Syria, perhaps northern Iraq).
