I certainly hope he does step forward and tell the truth; however I am not getting my hopes high on what the end result of ANY testimony will be. The fact of the matter is this WH absolutely controls the press. Second, half of this country doesn't care what Obama does...he could do anything at all and any criticism will be perceived as racism, politics, etc. With the help of the aforementioned of course. I have to believe the WH tried to blackmail the general into favorable testimony, and it was his fault for putting himself in that position; however once he indicated he would give accurate testimony they went into phase II which is making him out to be such a D-bag that NOTHING he says under oath will be taken seriously or will eclipse the “sex scandal” itself. Information is already coming out about classified material being found at his mistress’s house. At the end of the day the press will have him painted as the real security risk and orchestrator of a cover-up of his own.

Yes, Petraeus has lost plenty of credibility. Was he lying three days after the attack when he briefed Congress or is he lying now? And he did afterall betray his marriage vows.

I suspect that we are not going to get any major revelations. Both sides will be able to point to some statement in his testimony that support their position. Petraeus will give guarded Delphic statements recognizing that he is currently under investigation. He will try to be as non-partisan as possible. It will be a high wire act fraught with danger, but the General will not fall off.
