I am still trying to figure out how a one day sale can last three days (our local Macy’s)

Bingo! Even in this poor economy workers feel it’s unjust if they have to work holidays. Poor babies. Yet cops, firemen, nurses, doctors etc. who have always had to work weekends and holidays are expected to be there for them. It’s the pervasive entitlement mentality!
Can’t blame them for being pi$$ed off at that. Aren’t most grocery stores closed on Thanksgiving? If Americans can wait one freaking day to get food, why can’t they wait one day to start Christmas shopping.
