I don’t understand. Does Congress offer special disability packages?

I have never heard of such a thing. Perhaps Gabby Gifford got something that was not publicized and JJ Jr wants the same. But all still highly doubtful

I am certain this wackjob is eligible for SSI.

What would he get if he had just lost his re-election campaign.....nothing I do believe.

Although I recall some politician in the last 5 years or so that spouted about collecting unemployment benefits after losing re-election. Don’t remember when and/or where though.

Congress doesn't have a special disability package. They get what they earn under the federal employee retirement system ~ except they get to double it ~ you and I would get 1% credit per year, and they get 2% credit per year ~ which gets added up on retirement ~ at 56 at the earliest, and that is multiplied times the average of highest 3 annual salaries.

If JJJ leaves now he gets 34% when he turns 56.

Better than most ~ but not like winning the lottery.

if he gets approved on disability, and being a nut case is sometimes approved, he gets varying amounts depending on all sorts of factors ~ it ain’t simple ~ it’s better to not be disabled. Check this board to get a taste of what jJJ needs to do to get on the gravy train eh (but he ain’t gettin’ rich on it, and he’s crazy anyway, and who wants to be crazy) http://www.opm.gov/retire/pre/fers/disability.asp#Applying
