I can’t for the life of me can understand why any capable and/or conservative person would become a public school teacher. There is no reward whatsoever.

We don't do it "for the reward", we do it because it is the right thing to do. There is hope (Really hope not he hopey changey thing) for the future, but not if everyone just abandons ship. Why did Terry Woods run towards the compound in Benghazi? There was not going to be a reward.

Try telling that to the several consulate members that he was able to rescue.

There are to many people who would rather sit on their collective butts pontificating about the horrible schools and disastrous administrations instead of standing up, getting involved and trying to rescue those they can.

For me, its a sense of civic duty. Old fashioned, perhaps, but that’s part of my conservative outlook.
