Shocked that he didn’t get a hard slap on the hands too!
This is a fairly interesting story if you dig down into his personal habits. Over the past decade...he got himself deep into credit card debt...then found all kinds of other ways to dig deeper.
The whole charge around the bank fraud? He wanted to find a way to do a new mortgage, so he wrote up a document to convince the bank that he was being paid more than what his city council chief’s job paid. Once he got approved and got a significant savings on his mortgage....he turns around to buy a boat...digging himself deeper into debt. Don’t even mention the dock fees, which is in the DC region...would have been massive.
As he came into office two years ago...he demanded a upscale SUV with various luxury items. Even though DC has a law on the books that only emergency managers in the DC gov’t (fire chief, police chief, etc) would be allowed a SUV...they still granted him the status vehicle.
The guy doesn’t know how to handle money and simply works to get himself deeper into debt as each day goes by.
I would think fraud would be a resume enhancement in DC.
Resume’ enhancement for the D.C. Demo demographic.
