Someone will happily come along and buy the Hostess/Ding Dong/Twinkie brand names, while shedding the union baggage. These striking fools just dont realize that, do they?
You forget to mention that they should move it all to a business friendly none union state, say like, Texas.

So true, as a connoisseur of their products, I agree, I love ‘em, besides I protest the fascist, nutritionists through out this once great nation, I hope our nation can rise from the ashes like Hostess!

Long live unions who will destroy a business to prove their power. Do the members want this to happen or only the union leaders?

"Our members are on strike because they have had enough," bakers' union president Frank Hurt said in a statement Tuesday. "They are not willing to take draconian wage and benefit cuts on top of the significant concessions they made in 2004 and give up their pension They're just not getting this "redistribution of wealth" stuff, are they?

Maybe the union could buy the company’s dead carcass since they think they can run it better? /SAR

I don’t buy this crap now as it’s overpriced. How much would these union jackasses like to see a box of Twinkies go for $12?

The Caterpillar workers in York, PA did exactly that; they demande and demanded until they killed the proverbial goose that laid the golden eggs. And the Harley Davidson workers in York came real close, also. Thankfully, cooler heads prevailed in the Harley situation.

The Teamsters accepted contract, the bakers didn’t.
This strike is effecting 24 of 33 factories.
They are giving up their jobs because of an 8% cut followed by 4% raises over 4 years.
They are insane.

Tasty Kake, which is headquartered in Philadelphia, nearly went belly-up a few years back. That was not a union problem, but rather deficient management, as far as I can tell.
Anyhow, a baking company from one of the Carolinas took it over, introduced a few new products, and have the place humming along in great style. A happy ending for once!
Another great success story is Snyders of Hanover, PA and Lance Snack Foods from Charlotte, NC merged last year, and are really kickin’ butt in the snack world.
