Does he get to keep it?
I suppose its like a tonic to heart, being scared like that -- now he won't need to go on that holiday he can't afford anymore anyway!
Mountain lion was sizing the hunter up for a place on his den wall. Yummmm....
Fortunately a hunter knows when he is being stalked, a jogger would have been lunch.
I don't go into wilderness areas without a firearm anymore.

He could have just dialed 911 on his ObamaPhone.
A cougar came near our camp area in Montana summer of last year. Fortunately, it passed us on by after a few minutes. It was apparently more interested in a deer that had run behind us.
Last month, my dog started to confront a large cougar while we were walking through the woods by the house. Fortunately my dog stopped while I ran toward the stare down with my .38 at the ready. The cougar saw me coming and headed for cover. Dog followed but not too far. I thought he was a goner, he usually chases but not this time. The cougar is still around, saw tracks in the snow yesterday. My neighbor got a shot at him but missed at 300yds. Cougar needs to move on, he’s being hunted by at least two guys.
I wonder what the autopsy will show, in that their fish & game will almost certainly want to autopsy it. Rabies, feline leukemia and feline distemper might provoke a big cat, but they are just as likely to be aggressive even if they are not mothers with a litter.
Did he yell out, “IT’S COMING RIGHT FOR US!” before shooting?
