On my lunch break right now...
I’m being more selective about who I talk to online. And more selective about what we watch on tv. Ladysmith, the back-to-eden gardening is a good idea. I have started a bit of that based on what I saw in the video. Mr S and I were both talking last night about being more self-sufficient, putting more stuff back and trying to become better gardeners. We have the Reader’s Digest “Back to Basics” book with a lot of good ideas in it.
Last night we watched “Alaska - the Final Frontier. If you haven’t seen it, its a really good show. A large extended family and their friends that live off the land in Alaska. Also watched the Doomsday preppers. Some of them are just wacko, but a lot make a great deal of sense in their preparations. We haven’t watched much in the way of news lately. I haven’t even been downloading the Rush and Levin podcasts. Mostly listen to Quinn and that’s about it.
I think it’s time we start thinking about ourselves and our families first. My first concerns are the son and his wife and my inlaws - both in their 80’s. After that, everybody else can take a hike as far as I am concerned. I wish I knew if any of the neighbors in our small group of homes were of the same mind. The guy next door told me they were trying to get as much debt paid off as possible, but I missed my chance in asking any questions about whether or not they are doing any other preps.
PaMom, that is really really weird about the driver’s license! I would put NOTHING past the obama Chicago-style thug administration!
