What sez it was someone at Langley.
The DL depositer is telling her, “Hey, yeah, you DIDN’T lose your license, I know, I know...I’m trying to tell you that I’m the kind of person who has easy access to your data, and more importantly I have easy access to YOU. And if you don’t shut up, the thing ending up in this famously scummy park could be YOU, and not just your licence...”
The phone conversation prolly went like this:
“This is the PD calling to say we found your DL...”
“My lost DL..? I didn’t lose it. I mean I HAVE it —it’s right here, in my purse right now...”
“Ah, ok, right. Well ma’am we had a person turn it in, and it has your name on it...do you want us to check if your previous photo of record is a match on the copy turned in to us...?”
They WANT her to realize she didn’t lose it, you see? They want her to THINK about it and to become afraid.
And then they want her to dummy up.
