In her statement last week, Clinton issued her ultimatum to the SNC, declaring that it can no longer be viewed as the visible leader of the opposition.
This curious choice of words suggests that there is a need for a visible leadership, that is secular, solidly bourgeois and oriented to the West, to serve as a front for the real forces waging the war for regime change inside Syria, which are increasingly sectarian and Islamist, including large numbers of Al Qaeda-linked foreign fighters who have poured into the country from Iraq, Libya, Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Chechnya and elsewhere.
This visible leadership would make it politically more feasible for Washington to intervene far more directly in the war in Syria once the US presidential elections are over.
Bengazi was a more visible, sad chapter in F&F/Syria, which is an efort to magically make a new little muzzie America out of the old, nasty Syria, with the US and “our friends” (??) designated by us as “the Good Guys”. Isn’t that nice and neat..?
Only Russia doesn’t like that.
Say...if one of the pre-assault steps was to road bloc our Consulate, and the Turkish envoy did DRIVE away with no problem, how did he do that...?
It’s so weird —wouldn’t you expect him to drive back, or at least to CALL back to the Consulate, and mention the HOARDES of armed men assembling for the Consulate attack..?
Gosh I someone trying to TELL us something...?
I keep waiting for Assad to start touching off the crowd pleasing weapons. I can’t think of a better target to test them on.
Back in the 1980s when Daddy Ha Fuzz Assad was in power, he slaughtered thousands of people in Homs....I mean thousands. Now these folks were Muslim Bro types and Daaddy Ha Fuzz wasn’t gonna put up with that. The MB and their posse were really the first one to kick up doo-doo against Baby Bash Assad. Forget the spin about moderates and secularists against the regime. There may be some, but it’s primarily the MB posse. They figured with what was going down in Egypt, Tunisia and all that, they’d take a chance. Assad ain’t no peaches & cream but any Syrian secular type whether he be Sunni or otherwise doesn’t want sharia law imposed and have his mamma, wife and sister looking like they’re mourning mummies.(aka burka) and the rest that goes along with it. Any dribble you hear about moderates being a significant part of the opposition is crap.
“...year ago and recognized by Washington as the legitimate representative of the Syrian people, had lost US backing.”
t
Yup!! She will shift all that money to the Muslim Brotherhood, Huma’s favorites.
Conservative Americans for Assad? How can we help?
