~The FReeper Canteen Presents~ Road Trip: Minot Air Force Base, North Dakota Minot Air Force Base is a U.S. Air Force installation in Ward County, North Dakota, 13 miles north of the city of Minot.
Minot AFB is the home of two major wings: the 5th Bomb Wing of the Air Combat Command (ACC), and 91st Missile Wing of the Air Force Space Command (AFSPC).
Originally opened in 1957 as an Air Defense Command (ADC) base, it became a major Strategic Air Command (SAC) base in the early 1960s, with both nuclear missiles and bombers (& tankers). When SAC was inactivated in 1992, the nuclear mission of the base was divided between the two present commands. Minot Air Force Base is home to the 5th Bomb Wing and its squadron of B-52H Stratofortress bombers. The bomb wing serves as the base's host unit in charge of maintaining the base's day-to-day activities in addition to its combat mission. Minot AFB is also home to the 91st Missile Wing and its fleet of Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missiles and UH-1N helicopters. Known by its nickname, the Warbirds, the 5th Bomb Wing is part of Air Combat Command as well as the host wing at Minot Air Force Base, N.D. The bomb wing and its fleet of B-52H Stratofortress bombers serve as part of the Air Force's conventional and strategic combat force. The men and women of the wing are capable of flying anywhere around the world and delivering a wide range of precision-guided munitions. Minot Air Force Base is home to the 91st Missile Wing - one of the Air Force's three operational intercontinental ballistic missile units. The missile wing, whose members are known as the Rough Riders, are responsible for defending the United States by maintaining a fleet of 150 Minuteman III missiles located in underground launch facilities scattered across the northwest part of the state. The wing's missile complex stretches over 8,500 square miles -- approximately the same size as Massachusetts. Learn More About Minot Air Force Base Here! The Dakota Territory Air Museum was founded in June of 1986 with the incorporators' dream and desire to provide the most comprehensive aviation facility in the state and region.
Plans were laid early that the museum would not only be a place to display famous military and vintage aircraft, but would be a place in every way dedicated to telling and showing the rich and varied story of our region's aviation history. In the short time since the museum's dedication, the members have built a solid foundation, establishing a working museum with aircraft, restoration projects and a role in the region's promotion of aviation activities and air shows.

Good morning Pro ((HUGS))
Woo Hoo, we both had a nice, relaxing weekend for a change. I have four nice days. Even the weather was nice.
I really must be weird. I have one childhood friend (a sister to a brother-in-law) who I see off-n-on but I don’t have any “old high school buddies” I hang out with nowadays.
Have a wonderlicious day!

I really WISH we would get some rain. We have had showers to keep things green, but the lakes and aquifers are so low.
