Don’t know if this will be a live show today or not.
Good morning, sneaks. Quiet in here today.
Rose is speaking about voter ID and early voting. Implement the first and get rid of the second. Agree 100%. All the talk about what went wrong, who didn’t vote and why, is all a waste of time to me. If there isn’t any integrity to our voting system, all the rest are useless arguments. We need a true picture of the results and we aren’t going to get that with the crap that’s going on every election cycle.
Live show. He was talking about Patraeus, voter fraud, the little I heard. Got stuck at work and just got home so I missed a bunch.
BO isn’t wasting any time screwing up. Did he ever have his fiscal announcement on Friday? Israel is facing war on 3 fronts and is waiting for help from the US today at the UN. Good luck on that!
Layoffs EVERYWHERE! I am probably safe but I worry about the kids.
Early voting is fraud period! We MUST have voter ID!
Wow I am in total agreement with you about the waste of time.
Good morning n’@!
The voter fraud makes me crazy...it’s likel “oh well” no big deal...they disenfranchised the military; have more voters than register in several states (PA!) grrrr!
Had a huge fire in an industrial park near my house. Employed 150 out here in NHT (the Joseph Krow company—they did commercial laundry for many of the hospitals(UPMC &excela) and they do the dry cleaning for alot of “dry cleaners”). 40 some companies responded. The sirens were constant. Alot of chems in the facility (55 gal drums they said). Thank The Lord only injuries were a broken ankle and other slip/fall type issues...all our fire fighters are volunteers.
Just on the FR front page....voice of Elmo takes leave from Sesame St after denying he had sex with an underage boy.
Anyone who ever saw Twilight Zone knows puppteers are....strange!
Huge fire! Very well known company. Horrible time of year for that to happen. Hopefully they had insurance.
Near PA Mom in North Huntingdon, Westmoreland county. About a half hour or so east of Pgh...maybe 45 minutes...it’s been awhile since I was out that way.
On Friday, I called the governor’s office. Told the secretary we had to have voter ID - not the weakened version we have right now. She agreed. She said it was on Gov. Corbett’s agenda. We shall see. Then I sent letters to our governer and representatives. They have to hear from us. You’re right, Ladysmith; if we don’t have honesty and integrity in our voting system........
Romney won every state with voter ID.
Oh no! What business? yeah, bad time for this to happen!
Forgive me but going to Westmoreland county brought back memories. I once drove from the west side..far west...of Pgh to WAY into Westmoreland county in about 25 minutes....should have taken a lot longer but I was young and stupid and driving a car that could easily cruise at over 150 mph...Jaguar XJ6.
That’s also the car I used to take the then future mrs p6 (and other gals!) out on dates. It looked kinda like a Rolls and in 71 it was a chick magnet!
I would take my dates out into this rural area on a dirt road behind a country club to see The Ghost of Country Club Hill. I wrote a story about it.
The cool part was the Jag had 2 gas tanks that read off the same gas guage.
I could start out with one tank full and then when I parked on the back road to watch for The Ghost I would secretly flip the switch to the other, empty tank!
Later I would flip the switch back to the full tank, pretend I didn’t know that happened and get my date home just in time.
Good times, good times...sigh!
That’s on mmy agenda today! Also today cutting our Comcastic cable/internet bill from $140 to $90. We will get almost the same channels but no BBC and a couple of othes we don’t watch. We’ll get the same internet and we also get a land line phone.
Then we’re going to Roku.
My FB went Friday and I don’t miss it.
How did you cut from $140 to 90?
My FB is gone too, and I’m noting a number of other Freepers did the same.
I think I’m getting Mr S a Roku for Christmas.
P6...(smiles!) this is a totally other side to you!!! Was the Country Club Irwin or Lincoln Hills (LH now has upscale Bob Shuster Homes but there—everytime I play PowerBall I think of that neighborhood—hey, I can dream!)
The fire was in an industrial park off Colonial Manor Road. When I heard all the sirens (constant for a long time—general alarm?) I turned to my scanner app on my phone. The VFD were there all night; got a nixle text about an hour ago that road that goes from US 30 to park finally openned...but it’s also a school bus stop heavy road. Not sure if the home close by have power back and gas service. We were very fortunate no serious injuries. No info on insurance, but our local FB page says they will rebuild.
Grandbaby is being a stinker—took 1/2 to type this
I’m comcastic too! Would love to cut my bill.
Yoi, wet little grandbaby fingers helpi g to type!
Nope, Chartiers CC out my way. Back in the day it was very rural. Now not so much!
Yeah grand kids keep ya jumpin!
Takes me forever to type on my tablet anyway.. long night...have to get some sleep.
Comcast has a deal for existing customers. $90/month for a triple play. Net...same as we have now, plenty fast enough, a basic HD TV...a step down from what we have now...we lose BBC, Oprah channel, MSNBC IIRC, Velocity and a couple others.
Most everything mrs p6 wants is there so it works for us.
Plus we get a land line phone that we don’t have now. It’s $90 for 12 months the jumps to $110 or $120 for the next 12 months. We will be locked in on a two year agreement but we get that landline and it’s less than we pay now!
I just found a house closer to our oldest son. We’re about 6 blocks from him now. This one is maybe 3 blocks but on his other side if that makes sense. It’s in the city but like his place fringe and a great neighborhood.
Best part is it’s on the top of the hill he is on and with a fantastic view of the Chartiers valley. You can see out to Robinson Towne Center and beyond...quite a distance.
The house is newish split ranch with 2 fireplaces, internal garage, great yard with plenty of garden and wonderful spots for my weather station, webcams and shortwave radio antenna! It’s on a dead end flat street with a major road at one end and a park area on the other.
Nice attached garden shed with windows so youncould start plants early.
Covered patio, nice kitchen and finished family room. It is actually laid out very similar to our apartment.
I am so tempted....if I had the money, LOL!
But then it would be back to taxes, lawn care ...and since it’s landscaped that won’t be cheap...shoveling snow and keeping up wih things that happen..
Think we’ll stay put!
Got to get some sleep!
Woohoo! Outer banks! Pics...lots of pics!
I called comcast. The Triple play doesn’t apply to us since we already have all three in the bundle. You added something new - the land line. Nevertheless, we did get a small cut in the amount. Every little bit helps. Plus, we don’t have a contract, which I didn’t really want anyway.
Son and wife are talking about living in or near Pittsburgh now, though they had a bit of a pause after they saw how wild things got when Sandy hit the highly populated area in NY area. I’ll have to tell them about the area your son lives in. The price you named was in their price range. What school district is that? DIL would love the shopping areas. She loves IKEA, and I know that’s nearby!
We haven’t watched any news shows either GB. Too depressing. Every time I check a news network - even Fox - I see the pResident’s face. I can’t stand seeing or hearing him! It angers me that he is allowed to occupy our White House. I have nothing but disdain for those who stayed home and didn’t vote, or those conservatives who voted third party. In spite of all that, though, I really think it boils down to voter fraud. Ladysmith is right. We need to fix our election system by insuring that voter fraud can’t happen. There is voter ID in every state in which the evil snake obam lost. What does that tell you?
Anyway, I think I might get Mr D a Roku for Christmas. In fact, I might get son and his wife one as well.
I’m too depressed to think about the next election......
Go to their site there are different models use my name and I can get a free movie. Some conservatives they screwed us and them. The XS model I got has has a hookup for wireless and a hard wire hookup network cable from the router. I do believe all other models have wireless hookup.
Getting ready to go up town - mostly window shopping for Christmas ideas. I wonder if we can keep what we have and use the Roku for a second tv? Does it work like that? I am too cheap to get a box for the tv in Mr S’s man cave.
The downside isiit’s the city of Pgh. City schools, city taxes. For a young couple it wouldn’t be bad until thr kids come. Then it’s cuty schools until high scool. A t that point they could go to Bishop Canevin HS which is esay walking distance.
When I get to my dektop I’ll FReep mail you the listing.
OK guys, Question: What exactly does ROKU do? Can you watch live news? Like can I watch FoxNews live? What do you pay for? I am new to all of this stuff. I guess you pay a nominal monthly fee for Netflix? What exactly IS Netflix? Isn’t that a service with all movies?
Help me out here. We want to get our son and his wife one for Christmas. They already have Netflix. Hubby sounds interested now that we checked them out at Walmart, but doesn’t want to turn off the cable tv. We don’t watch a ton of movies but like history shows, documentaries, American Pickers, Ghost Adventures (yeah, we like that stuff! lol!), Food Network, etc. Can we get stuff like that? I guess the only live tv we’d want is news and weather. I guess I can listen to radio live as well, since you can listen to Quinn & Rose?
Some guidance appreciated! :-)
Is be tempted too!
Because you ALWAYS have that nice BIG family room area in the lower level of most split levels (which is ready finished) and that it has a flat yard (a Pittsburgh rarity). BUT...do I ever understand property taxes and upkeep. It’s something to think about (especially if 1. It’s been on the market over 45 days OR if a foreclosure (maybe lender would do a short sale?!?)).
When my daughter was looking (almost 3 years ago—did that time go fast) I found her a 48 foot, Ryan built split. Big “L” shaped eik w/a pantry; finished LL w/FP; 2 1/2 baths; 3 BR...and future son in law informed us “he doesn’t like the split concept.” Okaaaay....so they bought a tiny Cape Cod (big on charm, small on space) that now they both say is too small (baby stuff is taking over).
If they had at least LOOKED at the split level...(that’s why they involved me as an ex RE). Sigh.
A lot of it is VOD but Fox is live 9 AM to 3 PM..UDTVNOW has local channels from PA but Harrisburg..espn History etc..for about 29 dollars a month. www.roku.com check it out AM amd P6 can explain it better..hey where is AM??
