Here’s an interesting plot twister; Republicans made the assumption, incorrectly as it turns out, that voters in states with high-unemployment would kick the bums out. That is, that they’d vote Obama out of office and try to find someone who could solve the jobs problem in this country.
Turns out, the opposite has happened. Voters in high-unemployment states actually like the president, and the reason is obvious; the Federal Government is paying the jobless, extending unemployment benefits, food stamps, and even underwriting disability payments from Social Security.
Think we’re different from the Europeans? Think again. The proportion of Greek men in their 30’s that are working is higher than the proportion of men who work in the United States. That’s what this election was all about. People voted for free stuff, free money, and free benefits. A chicken and health care in every pot.
It’s not just the people who lost money in the recession who are hooked on government money. The total number of people getting government money are rising. In fact, most of what you suspect about entitlements may be wrong. If you think the proportion of people getting government benefits has been stable over time, think again. In 1983, less than 30% of us got help. Today, it’s 49%.

They failed to hammer away on what will happen when Obama gets returned; The Obama 2013/14 Tax Increases. The impact of Obama’s energy policies..(a socialist construct never branded as such) and a bread and butter issue which reaches every into “demographics” pocketbook...The impact of Supreme Court Appointments.. 18,000 new IRS agents and on and on. Including rampant corruption . Some were very briefly touched most weren’t and Benghazi was left to languish. Then there is Obama’s personal extravagance and behavior refusing to visit Nashville after its disaster showing up at New Orleans after Mitt visited it.
Instead we got a sales pitch on executive ability but not the reason why one should toss the old model and buy his.
In addition Rove who I understand was handling the Senate PAC campaign played games. His material
never warned voters that IF OBAMA GETS REELECTED AND SENATE RETAINED OBAMACARE AND ALL THE TAX INCREASES THAT GO WITH IT WILL NEVER GET REPEALED Let alone tie into or cover the formentioned grape shot which would have perhaps changed that body.
Finally they didn’t believe the polls which turned out were dead on. Even going as far as setting up focus groups which could have looked into what’s going on . Even to the point of going out to local eateries and bars and eavesdrop into conversations and pick up on topics being discussed.(chat rooms twitter too contrived)
Our local small population (-8000) rural blue county GOP had at the outset good and growing attendence at their meetings 50 plus. At the meeting the Thursday before the election only about a dozen people showed up and I knew we were in trouble .

That’s what I thought, instead of high unemployment, more would vote for Obama, because they believed the Republicans, rightfully so, would cut their freebies. They didn’t care about the economy improving, they wanted to keep getting the free shit.
I've been making the point for a while that the unemployment rate is irrelevant to many 0bama voters because the unemployment rate in their families has been 100% for generations.

Republicans are bound to lose until they understand why they lost. The reason why they lost is not that there was unemployment under Obama but rather this unemployment was caused by Republicans exporting jobs. It’s really all Bush’s fault. He made China a permanent most favored trading partner. Look at what you buy, see where it is made now. That is where the jobs went and for that voters did not blame Obama.
