As I understand it the FBI concluded that there was no such security lapse.
People with very high security clearances get some on the side all the time. They are humans. When counter intelligence finds out they just make sure that said person isn't a CHICOM spy or some such. Otherwise it is no issue. Really! All people are humans.
And those on this forum who think that someone who agreed to put his life on the line for 30+ years and who agreed to go where he has to go 24/7 at the beck and call of the nation for 30+years (flag officers are probably paid on an hourly basis less than your car mechanic) agreed to be a monk just are plain out of their skull.
There are some things that are part of that social contract and some things that are not and when we confuse the two we are going to end up with third rate buttkissers running the military.

He also implicitly agreed to adhere to the UCMJ during those 30+ years or face the consequences.
I expect that kind of behavior from a run of the mill spook. Not from the head of the CIA. And certainly not from a president.
