While I hate to hear of layoffs and suffering, IMHO, the sooner the economy is crashed, the better for everyone. Its my fervent hope we see the country run off the fiscal cliff which will ensure a plunge into deeper recession; its the only way to bring this gov’t down.

They don't even let small factoids like that enter into their thinking, until it all comes crashing down. Then the scum sucking dirt bags will take to the streets. It might get real ugly.
The feds have been trying for years already to make it nearly impossible to hire individuals as independent contractors. This will only get worse. They want only businesses with employees doing contract work. A lot of those who are placing people on “1099” status are probably doing so in violation of requirements.
