I wouldn’t be a bit surprised to find out the CIA planted these Bimbos and had him set up for this sting . Once the Fling happened they went into stage 2 ,, the eMails as the evidence needed .

I find it hard to believe that a man of his quality would
send emails and incriminate himself. Maybe he had a lapse
of judgment and had an affair, but I can’t see him leaving

I have heard others suggest the same thing. Petraeus wasn't an insider at the CIA...and by some accounts wasn't liked.
I wouldn't put it past some of the old and powerful forces within the CIA to set him up.
