The internet is not secure. Free email is not secure. There are multiple angles that foreign intelligence services use to access and steal unclassified emails from our national security architecture and military personnel. Especially when those emails originate or terminate in Afghanistan.

Any number of foreign intelligence services could have used this information as a bargaining chip with Obama loyalists within the U.S. government. Petraeus has long been a potential political rival of Obama. When McChrystal stepped down and was replaced by Petraeus, Obama was widely praised by the left for having cleverly shipped a potential rival out of the picture. Obama later kept his friends close and enemies closer by putting Petraeus in charge of the CIA. Romney apparently still wanted him as his VP, a point Obama leaked himself at a fundraiser.

Foreign intelligence services trade in this sort of information like currency. Handing a government a knife it can use to take out a political rival silently is a gift that doesn’t go unrewarded.

If that is true it gives me hope that he is going to do the right thing and come clean about Benghazi and he did it after the election because he thought Romney was going to win and he wouldn’t have to rat out Obama to be rid of him. Not sure I agree with that approach, but I hope it works.
