I live on the Texas Gulf Coast and we were without power after Hurricane Ike for 21 days. The utility people were greeted like heroes when they came to town. We didn't have the cold but we did have 100+ degree heat. Wish you guys all the best. We have contributed to a local LDS church response and to the Quaker church response as well as the Salvation Army. Won't give a nickle to the Red Cross.
One of the things we here have learned after years of these things is to be prepared as much as you can and don't depend on the government for much and when they tell you to evacuate - get out asap.
