Yeah Captain....go buy a generator.
And good luck getting gas to go buy that generator and the gas needed to fill it.
I am on the case. Along with my sister, we are purchasing diesel generators. I have an electrician who will be setting us up in the next few weeks.
The best type of generator to buy depends on your energy use now.
If you use oil to heat - you have a 275 gallon diesel tank in your cellar - go with a diesel generator. Home Heating Oil is Diesel Fuel.
If you have a gas line or using propane - buy a natural gas/propane generator.
If those options are not available - buy a gas powered generator - keep gasoline on hand always (rotate your stock by filling your car tanks and freshening up the storage cans - because it has that “icky” ethanol in it.)
This goes for everyone in the country, utility companies are run too efficiently - everyone will be waiting longer and longer to get back up to speed....take heed.
Mine runs on propane and I only have about 1,000 lbs. of that (translation - that is enough to heat my house, my water, cook my food and power a big generator until about May of next year)
Just how far from the coast are gas stations out? Nobody has a buddy with a pickup truck, who lives where gas is available, and who could be paid to show up with a couple dozen 5-gallon containers of gas?
