The man who was shot attempting to break into a Sharon home on Monday waived his right to an extradition hearing Thursday afternoon in Youngstown.
The homeowner, Pete Delli Bovi, has lived on Malleable Street for 33 years. He said he can't believe someone tried breaking in during the day.
On Monday afternoon, Delli Bovi was resting when he heard a noise he said he'll never forget.
"I was watching TV. I closed my eyes a little bit and I heard this big boom. Like, it was so loud. That's when this guy kicked my door in the back."
Just last year, someone else broke into his garage. Delli Bovi said he got his gun permit and on Monday afternoon, he used a revolver that he said saved his life.
"So I crawled by the kitchen where the hole was, when he said said oh. He stand up and I shot a couple of times," Delli Bovi said.

This happened to one of my colleagues who was reading the paper at the kitchen table when a thug broke his side window and tried to boost himself into the house. Colleague was sitting in one of those old, metal-framed kitchen chairs that weighed a ton - he picked it up over his head and crashed it down as hard as he could on the criminal’s head — the criminal (who turned out to be a teenager) withdrew and ran off. Cops caught up with him later at the emergency room.
Too bad the homeowner in this case didn’t kill the home invader, that’s what I would have done, no question. I am a woman with children and animals to protect — think they’d prosecute me? This is California, so yeah, probably.
The German Shepherds would have the guy before I could shoot him. They don’t like people that violate their space and operate under a whole different set of rules.
Yep, happiness is a big old GSD partner securing your home. I would highly recommend it. I don’t think too many of Obama’s EBT Orcs would come close enough to kick a door with my GSD barking behind it. Pretty sure they would seek a quieter door.
Guess the homeowner has more balls than the intruder.
