I would guess that the FBI would have interviewed some people who were with Petraeus in Afghanistan and that at least one of them would have notified Petraeus that he was being investigated. Yesterday, it was printed that the FBI had notified the White House of this before the election.
From what I’ve read, she is/was a MAJ in the USAR. She was formerly an active duty CPT, a veteran, and in intel.
I read somewheres that the FBI first stumbled onto the affair when Broadwell tried to access Petraeus’ confidential emails..if so, that’s a totally different story..
