I think the General has fallen on his sword for the good of the country. He by admitting to his tryst is saying to those who were blackmailing him “I’m coming to get you!”

I can’t believe anyone is trying to defend this man. Look at what he has really done in the past, not what he promotes about himself. He has a history of taking credit for good things that happen and getting out of town quickly when it seems things are going to go south.

Did you know that Petraeaus had the bright idea that our people in Afghanistan should get out of their armored vehicles more to be closer to the people? The result was a dramatic increase in legs and testicles blown off due to our people stepping on IEDs. Even when it was apparent that this strategy was a horrible failure, he persisted. When things really started to look bad in Afghanistan, Petraeus came home the hero and left some other commander holding the bag.

Thousands of posts about Petraeus and his mistress, barely a word about his wife of 37 years. It’s hard for me to imagine dealing with my spouse of several decades having an affair, much less to have it broadcast so publicly around the world. Mrs P also works for this Administration. What a pack ageof filth they are.

I don’t think Petraeus would have gone this route, with public humiliation of his wife, had he a choice, unless he perceived that it would be better in the long run for their relationship and for the country.
