I hear you, Trebb. I am a Federal worker also. I used to be a defense contractor, and I am a retiree from the USAF. I am extremely grateful to have this job, because I believe God gave it to me after my wife was diagnosed with bone cancer. I make enough to get by now that she is no longer working, and we have used it to foster/adopt three beautiful kids. Yes it would be nice to get paid a little higher wage, but I understand the times. I will never, ever join the union, and neither will my co-workers who are hard-working, dedicated ex-military just like me.

“I believe God gave it to me after my wife was diagnosed with bone cancer.”

Friend, I’m sorry your wife got sick, and hope she’s on the mend.

But did you ever think about how God planned to pay for your military retirement and federal paycheck with the gold-standard healthcare that helped treat your wife?

What you are really saying is God smited the rest of us so that you could get paid two government paychecks.

No, the Constitution says I have the God-given rights including life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. You, and everybody else that gets a deficit-funded government paycheck are taking from people who pay for it all today, and the kids in the future who have to pay for all the spending that comprises your TWO government paychecks.

No, God didn’t give you anything. The overtaxed private sector allowed the bureaucracy to exist that gave you the job and multiple paychecks you now have.

your paychecks and government deficit spending are contrary to Gods inalienable rights bestowed upon every freedom-loving American when it takes what belongs to someone else.

Sorry friend, your windfall comes not from God, but from somewhere else.

Enjoy it while you got it. But God does not favor you keeping it if we who pay for it all fully claim what God has given us in America going forward.

I'm former military as well. A RIF in my office would be just as ugly as anywhere. It will be especially so as some old guys get riffed while younger vets and disabled vets get to stay. I have a 30% rating from the VA so me and a couple other guys in the office are pretty much bulletproof.

I really won't miss the guy in the cube behind me. He is pretty much just pulling down a paycheck. He does nothing and the only thing management does in response is slip him bad deals when they think they can get away with it.
