I've come to the conclusion that almost all liberals choose to be liberals because their first, and often only priority, is to feel good about themselves, to convince themselves and others that they are a superior person. Hence the nonstop glibness and smugness that liberals display, the endless smirking, the never-ending public taunting of those who chose not to believe as they do. One is never a liberal quietly and discretely; being a liberal is all for show. This is I think one of the primary reasons why almost all celebrities are liberals.

Conservatives are not conservatives for show, to gain applause or to be congratulated for the fineness and sophistication of their views. Their conservatism stems from deeply held ethical and moral beliefs about the relationship between the citizen and the state, and rarely does approval or opprobrium (more often the later at the hands of liberals) dissuade them from their beliefs.
