I’m inclined to think that this proposal (for the GOP to allow Barry to have all that he wants with regard to the economy) is a good one, but I still think the media would find a way to blame them for the ensuing catastrophe anyway.

Spoke with my 85 year old mother day before yesterday. She and my now deceased father worked the Goldwater campaign in South Alabama. Their efforts contributed to the election of Republicans John Buchanan, Jack Edwards and Bill Dickenson. The first Republicans from Alabama in a long time.

She said conservatism used to be an idea. A philosophy about the proper role of government in the lives of its citizens. It has in large measure devolved into a checklist of specific issues about which there can be no disagreement without regard to the appropriateness of government's involvement in the issue.
