On Thursday night, the Associated Press unveiled a bizarre new standard of disclosure and non-disclosure in sexual harassment allegations.
In a story on a sexual harassment complaint against Joseph Rogers, the CEO of Waffle House, AP reporter Kate Brumback would not name the accuser, since "The Associated Press does not identify alleged victims of sexual harassment." But it does somehow find it relevant and worth disclosing the unrelated information that the alleged sexual harasser made donations to Mitt Romney in 2011 and 2012:
And isn't it interesting that they can spare the time and resources for this, but can't be bothered with Benghazi.
They don’t wanna get rusty when it comes to ripping our side, practice makes perfect and 2016 is just around the corner.
Exactly my point of how corrupt the MSM is. They are evil.
There is absolutely no material reason to add the campaign contribution information to this story except for the expressed purpose of seeking to inflict damage to Republicans through syllogistic character assination.
Should read: “assassination”
If Political profiling is OK, why isn’t racial profiling acceptable? Its more accurate as a predictor of criminal activity.
But they tear Linda Tripp apart for blowing the whistle on the President.
I find it interesting that in cases of alleged sexual harassment and rape the “accuser’s” name is kept under wraps while that of the accused is broadcast as prominently as possible.
Doesn’t apply to any other type of crime.
Does seem to go somewhat against the notion of “innocent until proven guilty.” In fact, a man accused of such a crime or misbehavior is inevitably judged guilty in the eyes of a large part of the public regardless of the results of due process.
In cases of “legitimate sexual harassment,” to paraphrase our losing GOP Senate candidate from MO, I have no problem with the most severe penalties. But I think it is only rational to recognize that sometimes women lie about such things, as in the Clarence Thomas case.
The names of both parties in rape and harassment cases should not be disclosed until the hearings have reached a conclusion, and possibly thereafter. And those determined to have filed false charges should have the same penalty applied to them as they attempted to pin on an innocent man.
The question is how do you remove their influence and power? I would assume by removing their sponsors and money from their coffers but how would anyone do that effectively?
they aren’t really targeting Romney, they’re using continued attacks on him to deter possible candidates from running in the future.
Very strategic move on their part: read “Enders Game” specifically the part in the beginning where Ender explains that he beat a bully into complete submission and death to serve as a message to anyone else who would think of bullying him.
This was described to me, years ago, by a Dem operative as the “Move Strategy”. That a successful end to a campaign wasn’t just a win by your candidate, but the complete destruction of an opponent to the point where that opponent would have to actually move away to escape the stigma inflicted upon him. This making future challengers think twice about throwing their hats into the ring.
The same way they do it to everyone else - go after their personal lives, find all the dirt, and make it public.
