Around 90 employees are being laid off from the Teco Coal Corporation.
Director of Personnel, Paul Matney, says no mines are shutting down but they are reducing their manpower and staffing, which will reduce some production.
Matney said that the layoffs are at several locations and are the result of the economic conditions of the coal market.
He says more information will be released Friday.

This is what America voted for. And Obamacare hasn’t even kicked in yet. I just looked at our open enrollment for our insurance next year. It is NOT the same plan that I had before Obamacare was passed. Higher premiums. Lower coverage. Higher deductible. And beginning next year, my FSA amount has been cut considerably. And this is what America voted for.
Add Welch Allyn - Medical Equip - 275 laid off.
marked
...and yesterday our CEO confirmed they cannot make Payroll so we will not be paid today.
Oh my. How sad I am for you guys, and the rest of the free world.
This should be a Facebook Page - open for all to see. I fear the list will grow, sadly.
Michelle Malkin/twitchy had a list yesterday as well.
Westinghouse, Research in Motion, Boeing, US Cellular, Commercebank, Iberia, ING, Ericsson, Bristol-Myers, Corning, Boston Scientific, Abbott Labs, St. Jude, Caterpillar, CVPH Medical Center, Lightyear Hawker Beechcraft, Hawker Beechcraft, Pepsi, Energizer....taken from twitchy.com
Damn...
I wonder how they’ll spin the next few weeks of unemployment numbers.
Also, see Elections Have Consequences Repository
The next shoe to fall will be the wholesale retirement of doctors over 60 when ObamaCare kicks in in 2014. Happily, that coincides with the off-year elections.
The two doctors in our family will be quitting their practices rather than work for the federal government. This is not what they trained for. One specializes in elder care, the other is an oncologist who specializes in bladder cancer. You can’t replace these people with Mexican immigrants.
Bookmarked your post.
jobs will be killed and there will be fewer tax payers but everyone not working will have free cell phones.
-——You cant replace these people with Mexican immigrants.-——
No, the replacement immigrants will come from India
Done.
The OMG will dust off "Funemployed" from June 2009, thinking maybe we'll buy it this time.
Maybe we will.
You get the government you vote for..unfortunately we get the government they vote for too
One of the three that replaced me did.
