Don’t paint all Catholics with that brush, bud!
My relatives on Long Island, NY are all Catholic, and virtually all of them voted for Mitt Romney. All age groups, from twenty-somethings to senior citizens.
Rush claimed that Hispanics voted for Obama because they know that the democrats are the party that will give them all the freebies at the expense of the productive class.
Cheating, fraud and lying decided the vote.
Large numbers of Catholic women report engaging in family planning at some time in their lives. And I don’t mean the “rhythm method”.
The Latino “Catholic” thing is a myth as is the phonyass belief that Latinos are conservatives. Ain’t happening. The majority of Latinos will never vote for Republicans until Republicans become BIG government DemocRATS with lots of freebies and handouts. Anything short of that is just pissin’ in the wind.
Alright, per George Weigel, papal historian, stated last week, on “World Over Live” (you tube, ‘WOL’ 1 Nov), that there is now Catholic vote. he stated that there is a (practicing religious, or that effect) vote.
I recommend seeing it, but in it he also, by the way, states that it is silly for serious Catholics to hang around Pres candidates at the Al Smith dinner, and those such things at it is unseemly.
Credentials:
. . . he attended St. Mary’s Seminary and University, and he later received his masters degree from St. Michael’s College, University of Toronto. Weigel has received nine honorary doctorate degrees, as well as the papal cross Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice and the Gloria Artis Gold Medal from the Polish Ministry of Culture.
Weigel lived in Seattle, serving as Assistant Professor of Theology and Assistant Dean of Studies at the St. Thomas the Apostle Seminary School of Theology in Kenmore, and Scholar-in-Residence at the World Without War Council of Greater Seattle, before returning to Washington, D.C. as a fellow at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars.
Weigel served as the founding president of the James Madison Foundation (not to be confused with the James Madison Memorial Fellowship Foundation) from 1986 to 1989.[1] In 1994, he was a signer of the document Evangelicals and Catholics Together.
He currently serves as Distinguished Senior Fellow and Chair of Catholic Studies at the Ethics and Public Policy Center in Washington, D.C..
Each summer, Weigel and several other Catholic intellectuals from the United States, Poland, and across Europe conduct the Tertio Millennio Seminar on the Free Society in Krakow, in which they and an assortment of students from the United States, Poland, and several other emerging democracies in Central and Eastern Europe discuss Christianity within the context of liberal democracy and capitalism, with the papal encyclical Centesimus Annus being the focal point.
He is a member of the advisory council of the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation.
Weigel writes and serves on the Institute board for the Institute for Religion and Public Life, which publishes First Things, an ecumenical that focuses on encouraging a religiously informed public philosophy for the ordering of society.
I don’t get it - I thought all the legal ones were pissed that others jumped the line and didn’t have to play by the rules!
None of these numbers or exit poll stuff makes a lick of sense.
Two of my sisters are Catholic and one even works for the Church. My mother was Catholic and I have been considering converting lately. I am looking for a church home since the Episcopal Church left me.
My observation so far is that SOCIAL JUSTICE is a huge teaching of the church now. At least that’s my perception. Social Justice = the same teaching as Jeremiah Wright, Liberation Theology. It is communism of course and I’m not saying it is the Church’s fault, I’m saying that Communism is in the Church and Communism is prevailing in the USA Church. The worshippers don’t know what they are doing however. They are just being good observant Catholics. Social Justice is true Christianity and that’s that. Hence they welcome all immigrants and will do Mass in their language and give them food and blah blah. Meanwhile the English speaking parishoners, believing they are being Christian, move to the back of the Church, cooking all the meals.
Also it seems that the Catholics I know are more caring about Social Justice than birth control, which many obviously practice these days. Obama is the perfect Social Justice guy.
I’m not surprised the Catholic turnout was not huge for Mitt.
I’m very proud of Cardinal Dolan and his efforts to enlighten the Church in the USA. He is a wonderful man and teacher, from what I have seen of him.
