I’m with you on Maroun. That guy makes bottom feeding scum look good.
First he claimed there’s no need for another bridge and finally settled on claiming that he wanted to build a second bridge (never mind the fact that Canada won’t let him build another right next to the first). Then he and Kwame Kilpatrick got caught conspiring to seize control of the tunnel. He also conspired with ACORN to put fake eviction notices on all the doors in DelRey to convince people that the state was kicking them out. That last stunt kind of backfired because a lot of people realized that they’ll get a better deal selling their homes under eminent domain than they’ll ever get on the open market. (DelRey is about as bad as it gets in Detroit)
As far as the cost is concerned, we do have to pay for the land on this end of the bridge but that’s because federal law prohibits Canada from buying it. In any case, its a spectacular deal that will actually produce revenue for everyone involved except Maroun.
CrippleCreek - I am heartened by Michigan as the concerned citizens have shown that once you hit bottom - voters will gladly take the pledge. I don’t believe that Republicans nationally need to morph into the “outreach party” at all. Rather, we need to hold our principles dear and stand our ground, so when the dark blue states (first) and then the nation hits the wall in an epic financial collapse - responsible Republicans will be there to clean up.
I have properties and business ties in California, but I hope to change my tax and voting home as soon as I hit the magic 188-day mark. California is about to hit bottom and the voters will beg for a Republican to save the state when all hope is extinguished.
