Congress will become a shade more religiously diverse this January, after Tuesdays (Nov. 6) election of the first Hindu representative and first Buddhist senator.
Tulsi Gabbard, a Democrat from Hawaii, will become the first Hindu-American congresswoman, after defeating her Republican rival on Tuesday.
Ami Bera, a California doctor who was raised Hindu but now identifies as a Unitarian Universalist, according to the Hindu American Foundation, narrowly leads the race for Californias 7th congressional district.

Hirono, who is also the first Asian-American woman elected to the Senate, was one of three Buddhists in the House of Representatives. The other two, Rep. Hank Johnson, D-Ga. and Rep. Colleen Hanabusa, D-Hawaii, both won re-election on Tuesday....

Pretty sure that on closer examination, these two would be revealed as being of the “Hollywood” religion variety.
...spit..enough said.
He held a rally and his 'guest' was Sandra Fluke. What does that tell you about him? GAG
My Buddhist teacher flatly told me “it’s not possible to practice the Dharma and be a liberal. There are no victims in the Dharma.”
no - Keiko ‘Mazie’ Hirono describes herself as a secular , non-practicing Buddhist . A Buddhist is only a Buddhist if they practice . So Keiko-san is a BINO ( Buddhist in name only) She also has a really strange backstory about how she got her from Japan and not one person bothers to check into her immigration background . Hirono is nothing more than an Obama sycophant and former longtime member of the House Progressive Caucus . A real birdbrain with a propensity for enjoying her cocktails .
Gabbard is about as Hindu as my shoe . Gabbard is actually a member of a Hindu-like cult ,called the Science of Identity , which is itself an offshoot of the old Krishna Conscious , ISKON, movement that took root back in the late 60’s . She answers to the cult leader and neo-guru , a guy named Chris Butler , who fancies himself as ‘ the Lord of the Universe ‘ It is rumored that it is this guy that planned and propelled little Tulsi into both her political and military life , with an aim to getting his own grips on political power and influence thru his cult members .
She is also supported by Media Matters funded Vote Vets org. a far left wing group of disgruntled former military members , now happy to take money from George Soros .
The guy that opposed Gabbard was a homeless firebrand and local braddah type , whom the Hawaii Republican Party utterly failed to support in any way . Same as they failed to do in the last Hawaii CD-2 election . It’s a doo-doo hole out here . Truly
yep, I caught that too.
Mahalo for the bacckground. It’s too bad Wash. Compost wasn’t as thorough. Speaking of the Hawaii Republican Party, didn’t they fund election loser Linda Lingle adequately?
So, IOWs, one is a phoney-Buddhist and the other is a phoney-Hindu. That’s appropriate since Democrats are phoney-Americans.
To Stop Mufi, Mrs Abercrombie Joins the Chris Butler Cult

Governor Neil Abercrombies wife, Nancie Caraway touts Tulsi Gabbards transformation and reflection, particularly in regards to human rights for all people. Gabbards endorsers in the race for the Democratic nomination in CD2 include Emilys List and the Feminist Majority PAC. Katie Vlietstra, President of Women Under Forty PAC says, I cant think of a better role model for young women thinking about running for office! Even Dennis Kucinich has got in on the act.
This is funnier than John Waihee being conned by Ron Rewald.
As anybody who hasnt been living under a rock for the last 20 years knows, the Gabbard family is affiliated with the politically active, anti-gay marriage, Chris Butler Science of Identity cult. Interviewed by Hawai`i Free Press, former cult member Rebecca Rogan dismisses any claim that Tulsi or her parents have distanced themselves. Says Rogan, Tulsi is a pure devotee. She is a little plant, a Holy Basil . You dont just leave, you are totally black banned if you leave. Ive been banned. If I come around the cult security people start pointing and whispering. If they hear I am coming, there are phone calls all over the place.
When Honolulu Magazine in 2004 asked Mike Gabbard about Butler’s group, then-state Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, shot back in response: “I smell a skunk. It’s clear to me that you’re acting as a conduit for The Honolulu Weekly and other homosexual extremist supporters of Ed Case.”

re: Madame former Gov Linda Lingle , whom I know personally , Linda tends to consolidate all such meager HRP funds towards her own campaign . However this round the previous HRP admin so destroyed and gutted the kitty that there was probably very little for Linda to absorb . Perhaps incoming donations were insufficient from the RNC , since they were so pre-occupied with Mitt’s campaign $ requirements . Lingle had some great debates and totally destroyed Hirono in every one . Yet the dumbass Hawaii Dem voters voted the Party line anyway . The are like robots and have no mind of their own , whatever their Unions and Uncle Dan tell them to do , they do . It’s scary . Like zombies ....
Well that’s all that matters, that we have as many flavors of religion/ethnicity in Congress as possible, as long as they all think the same and vote for more gimmees.
At Steve Sailer’s site he did a great breakdown of voting demographics, and both those groups tend to vote ‘rat.
Thanks again for the background information. Since you know her please convey my congratulations to Gov. Linda Lingle for a well fought campaign, and best wishes for the future. Perhaps she’d like to participate here at FR.
Perhaps shed like to participate here at FR.
Doubtful!
The problem is that the GOP is NOT reaching out adequately to Hindus and Buddhists and Sikhs — these are naturally conservative people and logically should be voting Republican. The only reasoning I can give is the media perception of the GOP as some kind of KKK — which is crazy considering that Jindal and Nikki Haley are both from the GOP (though the beauty is that they are not considered by the color of their skin but by their conservative values)

Both Jindal and Haley call themselves Christian so religion may be at play.
I suspect immigration might play a role. Family reunition is very important to many immigrants to Asia, so they hear stories about Republicans wanting to lower the annual legal immigrant quota, or switch to a skill based system that would block out elderly or non-highly educated relatives, and they are turned away.
