It will be interesting to see how they twist themselves into pretzels explaining why this chip, essentially an identity card, should not have to be presented when voting.

I remember as a youngster being appalled to learn that Soviet “citizens” had to carry passports to travel inside Russia.

Looks like America lost the cold war after all.
