The GOP record is intact. Republicans never blow an opportunity to blow an opportunity. And faced with the biggest failure of a president since Jimmy Carter, Republicans blew it.

Or, I should say, establishment Republicans blew.

You know, the same fine folks who gave us Bob Dole and John McCain before forcing Mitt Romney on us because he was the “electable” candidate.

How’d that work out us?

Presented with a choice between a liberal northeast Republican and a liberal northeast Democrat, liberals in Massachusetts opted for the real deal. Republican Sen. Scott Brown is a senator no more. Go figure.

In Connecticut, Republican Linda McMahon’s last minute plea to voters was: Vote for the Democrat for president, but me for U.S. Senate. Instead, voters opted to go with someone from the president’s own party. Go figure.

In Indiana and Missouri, voters opted not to elect to the U.S. Senate a pair of Republicans – Richard Mourdock and Todd Akin – who would force raped women to bear the children of their rapists. Go figure.

You know I was looking forward to energy independence and Romney turning the economy around and some jobs being created. Now I’m looking at $8.00 a gallon gas, no jobs, higher taxes, more debt and 0bama selling the Country out because he is “ more flexible”. Whomever at the GOP decides how campaigns are run should be horsewhipped and removed.

Thanks to Bush the elder and Bob Dole, I am not a Republican, republican or rino. It is what it is and they are what they are and I am not, though I once thought I was.

I don't believe the philosophies that conservatives hold dear are outdated or unpopular. Conservatism is the distillation of how the world works or what some call common sense.

It doesn't matter if you believe or not, most recognize the real truth once they see it or experience its consequences and live accordingly, no matter what they call the inner compass that guides them.

But posers who pretend to have a claim to truth or try to act the part are rarely popular, and rarely have much appeal after that first blush.

The Republicans, like so many institutions in our world be they political, religious or corporate, have become posers for the ideology they once could almost claim as their own.

But that was then. Now, they can't walk the walk and have forgotten the words to be able to talk the talk. No wonder they fail.

Republicans are bad actors who don't believe in what it takes to win and are willing to compromise with failure and call it success.

Tell me again why anyone would choose to join such a group? Fear of something worse is the only reason I can think of.

But Mitt was electable as anyone can see by the turnouts at his rallies. It's just that Repubs 1)did not turn out to vote and/or 2) they still voted for Obama at the same "split" they did in 2008 (according to another post, "It's The Turnout, Stupid").

Whether because Mitt failed some "ideological purity" test for some Repubs or just plain wasn't "their choice", they failed in the ultimate test of party cohesion that Dems excel at: they did not get behind the party candidate and support and vote for him.

Now we are all left to suffer the consequences of those actions: 4 more years of Obama. And to those who stayed home, or voted for Obama instead of Romney: you could not be more wrong if you think there is no difference between them.

If Romney had won the election the stock market would not have tanked today, we would all be looking forward to getting the Keystone pipeline built and gas prices would probably be lower today (or quickly) in anticipation of it, small businesses would start hiring more people and the economy would get back on track now instead of being hunkered down and waiting out the next four years.

Yes, thanks to the ideologically driven purists who will accept no less than (their version of) the purist form of conservatism, we are all, every one of use, condemned to another four years of Obama, the UN, and a lethargic, dead economy. Thank you.
