Mourdock and Akin were a disaster with their fateful “rape” remarks. They were cruising to victory and would have easily won were it not for those. Why... WHY even go there?

Seriously, 2 Senate seats just flushed down the toilet because these idiots felt the need to blather on about the rape/incest abortion issue. Just shut the **** up. "I oppose abortion in all cases except the life of the mother". Period. Leave it at that. Don't spew a bunch of garbage about God's intent or women's bodies shutting down to prevent pregnancy. It's just amazing how awful some of these "grass roots" Senate candidates are. If we can't nominate someone good, then let's go with the establishment suit and at least take the seat.

And another thing, when the polls show clearly that a clownish Senate candidate like Akin can't win after making stupid statements....stop propping him up and insist he get the heck out of the race. We could have won that seat with almost anyone. Claire was that unpopular. And here she got 6 more years because morons like Huckabee raced to his defense and encouraged him to stay in the race.

What is it about GOP candidates that they get trapped up in this “rape” business? Don't they know that subject is radioactive for women voters? Just say rape is a crime and it should be punished and leave it at that. This year we had these two dopes who allowed themselves to be tripped up by it. I'm old enough to remember that idiot down in Texas who threw away the governorship to Ann Richards when he said the stupid thing about knowing you'll be raped so you may as well relax and enjoy it. It's a hair-trigger word that just sets women voters against you from the get-go. The GOP needs to get candidates who have some measure of political smarts and not open their big stupid mouths and say things like this.

Longbow, absolutely agree about Mourdock and Akin

what people should be infuriated about is that they KNOW that the liberal media will ask them tough questions on abortion, and they need to have sensible answers, not “rape is God’s will...”

these guys are lazy and dumb and don’t do their homework... just like Obama before the first debate
