Ted Cruz, the newly elected Texas GOP senator, said Wednesday that he is willing to work with President Barack Obama during his second term provided Obama follows former President Bill Clintons example.
If he is willing to follow Bill Clintons model he campaigned a lot with Bill Clinton if President Obama will follow Bill Clintons model and work with Republicans, reduce spending, reduce taxes, reduce regulations, I will happily work with him and I think a lot of Republicans will, Cruz said on CNN.
But Cruz, who was endorsed by the tea party, noted that he was wary the president wouldnt move to the center, given how he governed following the 2010 midterm elections.
If you look back two years ago, after President Obama faced a loss of the House of Representatives an overwhelming election result in 2010 President Obama didnt do what Bill Clinton had done when the same thing happened to him, which is move to the center, work with Republicans in the House, have a balanced budget, reform welfare, Cruz said. Instead, President Obama two years ago doubled down and went even further left to more spending, more debt, more taxes.
Cruz said he hoped that Obama governs the way he said he would during his victory speech Tuesday night following his clinching of a second term by defeating Mitt Romney.
But if he doesnt mean what he says, if that was simply what he says on the campaign trail, and he wants to go back to the path of the last four years: to more and more spending and debt and taxes and regulations that kill jobs, then I will do everything I can to work to stop us from continuing down that path, Cruz said.
I am tired of Republicans speaking positively of Clinton.
Clinton is an impeached rapist who, at least morally speaking, is far worse than Obama.
Uhhh...why should he? To paraphrase what he said, “You lost. We won”.
He will have MORE flexibility after the election. And, it isn’t like he’s running again...
Damn it all.
“Clinton is an impeached rapist who, at least morally speaking, is far worse than Obama.”
I’m not seeing this. He only @#$@#$ a few women. Obama @#$@#$ and continues to #@$@#$ hundreds of millions of people.
Ahhhhh... these naive newbie frosh Senators. So young, dumb and whatever.... Of course Obozo will do all these things. And more! His unicorn will poop rainbows too!
But seriesly. I voted for Cruz. I think he'll be fine.
Deadly Teddly.. I voted for him too.. The only positive thing I got out of this election. He best not fail me.
I like your new Senator Cruz. This was a clearly, yet artfully drawn line in the sand.
This was simply a statement of fact, which carried neither a positive nor negative tone.
Clinton, Rubin and the banksters plotted the real estate market bubble. They did it because Republicans and Americans, in general, would not allow leftists to build low income housing projects anymore and they wanted racial quotas in home ownership. It was one of those public/private “partnerships” aka, fascism.
Bush and the GOP knew it was a mess but let it ride until it exploded like an bomb on the banks and left the (formor) middle class of America holding the bag.
Let’s not follow Clinton’s example.
It is absolutely amazing to me that these people STILL do not get it.
This *!$& is not even sworn in and he’s already caving in. Meanwhile, half-dead Reid is making plans to shut down any and all dissent. Boy, we really know how to pick them.
I have had it with those who call themselves Republican and are nothing more than cowards masquerading as human beings. When the goodies dry up and the guillotine is put back into use, these are the first to go.
Bush pushed the “ownership society” pretty hard as well.
I don’t think Cruz is caving he knows that Obama isn’t going to go the Clinton route, who in much of his second term was to the right of even W in terms of economics and debt and even removing regulation.
“reduce spending, reduce taxes, reduce regulations”
He knows Obama isn’t going to do that, and if he does that is called winning
agreed....
He has no need to triangulate. If not enuff rinos are available to vote for something, just issue an Executive Order.
Bill who? We don’t need no steeking Clintons no more.
Cruz is dreaming. Or smoking something.
Hmm—I notice some here don’t quite see it that way.
I’m thrilled that Senator Cruz was elected. He is a good man (and a good fellow Texan)—and a good conservative. Even so, he’s aware that he will at times have to work with the other side to get things done.
That’s just the way it is.
Cruz is probably the most articulate man in the Senate, in either party. Not as eloquent as Rubio, but, then, he was born in Canada, and so is not going to be a presidential candidate. Met his father at a tea-party function. Father is preacher and as fluent, but has that accent.
