Thane,

What Ohioan said....

I’ve been with my current company for 19.5 years, and in the defense industry with other companies for 14 years previous to that. For the first time in my life I have a chance at retirement.

I saw the effect of the Clinton defence industry cuts back in 1989-1992....
Turned a once prosperous working class city into a blighted inner city.

Not to mention the ripple effect on the surrounding businesses.

People out of work don’t buy things, eat out, or go on holiday.

Be careful what you wish for...

All the tax cuts need to expire.....

Republicans are losing this battle because; so many Democrat voters don’t have any skin in the game.

People that are paying little taxes right now(poor) and the middle class, need to start feeling the pain of voting for Democrats.

The average Tax rate for someone making less than 20k a year is something like 10% that needs to go to 30%..

Then maybe people will start to vote Republican. Right now a lot of Democrat voters pay nothing into the system and get a lot out of it.

That needs to change, or they will never have any incentive to vote for a GOP candidate.

I’m sorry. I’ll remember to be happy the next time I see so conservatives cheerleading the gutting of our military. Why is that so hard to understand?

Hey I support the military too. My son is in the AF, my father worked for DOD, and my uncle was a decorated war vet. I think (I hope) what the poster is saying, is that we are $17T in debt. We don't have the luxury to be policing the world any longer. I for one support a very strong military that protects our country, and the most vital of our interests.

The days of being Uncle Sugar for humanitaran, political, or for whatever else should be over. I can see your point too, but our inept government has put us in this position.

Well. I come from a military family too. My dad was in the AF and worked for the Army as a civilian. Both of my Grandfathers served under Patton. My mother worked for the AF and I have worked in the Defense Industry for 20 years. I don't take it well while we disarm and the Chinese and Russians continue to steal technology from us. These American socialist scum are mortgaging our future to give handouts to the parasites of society. There are now more takers than makers and the takers are all bused to the voting booth. It is times like these that I revere my confederate ancestors more than all of the rest, including those who served under William Clark Quantrill. Those were certainly some Rude assholes there! :)

McConnell needs sustained confrontation, not compromise.

Maybe some good will come out of losing Lugar's seat.
