If we want to start being honest with ourselves, we might as well start with stuff like this. Vilifying food stamp recipients as one of the boogiemen that keep voting Dem will get us nowhere.

See for yourself.

Sure, there are few blue states in there, but if we look at it vs. electoral college votes, this contention gets us nowhere.

Upthread someone said blacks and Latinos matter. Now that is actually true, indisputable and a real problem for the GOP (or the country, depending on how you look at it.)

and for us to pretend that the women's vote didn't play a role would be foolish. Overheard last night:

"The rape guy lost!"
"Which one?"

Fair? No. Public perception? Absolutely. It matters. And it's not changing. The Dums have won 4 of the last 5 popular elections; mostly because of blacks, latinos, women and young people. Blocs that aren't getting smaller anytime soon. It's time to recognize that.
