The polls were right, except for Rassmussen who got every swing state wrong. Not to be trusted anytime soon.

Not so much a recrimination, but more a question.

Where’s Dick Morris......you know, Mr. “GOP/Romney tsunami” Morris?

If this election brought one shred of good news, it’s that most likely, he’s finished. No one with even a modicum of sanity will ever take him seriously again.

Americans on social programs, including seniors, thought that they would loose some or all of their benefits - the media made sure they were afraid of Paul Ryan.

It was simple: Too many stupid, dependent people who vote.

Meanwhile, look on the bright side. When the economy goes over the cliff and the Middle East goes to hell in a handbasket, Obama will have no one to blame but himself.

Oh, sorry; forgot he’ll still find a way to blame Bush. And Sarah Palin.

Requiem for the Croppies

The pockets of our greatcoats full of barley...
No kitchens on the run, no striking camp...
We moved quick and sudden in our own country.
The priest lay behind ditches with the tramp.
A people hardly marching... on the hike...
We found new tactics happening each day:
We'd cut through reins and rider with the pike
And stampede cattle into infantry,
Then retreat through hedges where cavalry must be thrown.
Until... on Vinegar Hill... the final conclave.
Terraced thousands died, shaking scythes at cannon.
The hillside blushed, soaked in our broken wave.
They buried us without shroud or coffin
And in August... the barley grew up out of our grave.

Romney didn’t:

1. Go after Obama on Benghazi.

2. Didn’t go after Obama and his close ties to Islam and the Muslim Brotherhood.

3. And why are so many politicians afraid to call an opponent a liar when their opponent lies.

For now. The GOP controlled house needs to eliminate every program supported by Democrats. Lets face it, giving Democrat voters will never lead to more votes for Republicans. Defund Education, the EPA, Commerce, Homeland Security, HHS, almost the entire Transportation department; and, most importantly defund Obamacare. Defund all government subsidies for all agriculture programs. Defund food stamps and federal unemployment benefits beyond 26 weeks.

Obama claims elections have consequences, and the GOP holds the purse strngs.

No recriminations here. A liberal Republican lost to a Marxist Democrat. I'll go back to what I said at a meeting of my company's senior management a few months ago: This was one of the most inconsequential elections in recent memory (despite all the talk radio nonsense indicating otherwise), since neither candidate could spell out a clear plan for dealing with this country's massive structural flaws.

By my last count, Obama got 3 million fewer votes in 2012 than George W. Bush got in 2004. In fact, Obama's 2012 vote total was nearly identical to John Kerry's losing vote total in 2004 ... even though there are substantially more registered voters today.

Obama won narrow races in several key states. My quick review of the results last night indicates that North Carolina was the only state to change from one side to the other between 2008 and 2012. Like I said, this was not a very consequential election, and I suspect an awful lot of voters knew it a long time ago.

I don’t want to hear nonsense blaming Romney for one thing.

He was a good campaigner. I cried last night because while he may not be a right-winger, he is a good man and would have been an excellent leader.

I am depressed this morning, but we will survive.

Those who say America is done because a president won reelection by a smaller majority than the first time (the first time ever...) need to get a clue and have some Reagan optimism.

In addition, those who blame Christie are silly. Sandy hurt Romney, but not enough to lose.

Parties and trends are cyclical.

The GOP MUST find a way to get more votes from minorities and women, however.

Relying on the white vote to carry the day is no longer going to work. Our party must expand or it will eventually start losing because of that.

In this case, it largely did so....while our side turned out, so did the Dems.

Luckily the House is good. But, say goodbye to a conservative SCOTUS.

God bless you, Mr. Romney and your hard-fought campaign.

I am sorry I can’t call you my president today.

Massachusetts
Michigan
Wisconsin

On merits, Obama should have lost against anyone. I think Romney did as good a job in the campaign as could be hoped.

Count me in as another one who thinks the real issue is that the Takers may have reached the tipping point.

Let me be the first. Ravi and SE did a helluva job with the data. We all worked with numbers we had and urged everyone to see something different in those numbers. No one did.

Personally I think Romney ran a very good campaign, and the proof is that we got killed in the Senate and didn't do well in the House either. So the collapse was across the board.

Rather than recriminations I would suggest a more serious soul searching that tells us that this is NOT a "center right country" and not even "center left" but a LEFT WING country for now. It looks a lot like England in the decade before Thatcher. Worse, we have officially lost the young (if by a smaller margin than in 08) and that means they STILL are not getting it about the debt, unemployment, and their future.

Romney got the conservative vote. He didn’t get enough of the so-called independent vote. The rest of the votes, many representative of the demographic shift of the last 20 years, were beyond the reach of any Republican candidate for president deserving of the name and will remain so, especially with the naked partisanship of the MSM. Liberal Republican though he might be, he was too conservative for them. We have crossed the Rubicon, the point of no return. We can’t out-Democrat the Democrats not should we. The future is bleak but keep on fighting.

To win in the future will take just one thing.

We need to somehow take over the MSM.

How many people would have to pool how much $$ and brains to pull off such a thing? It’s a huge task, but it is the task at hand I’m afraid.

It is the media that is the entire problem....see my tagline.

Think about it. What would the outcome have been if an honest MSM had been dogging Obama for 4 years?

Wgat a tragedy this was. How could so many people be so stupid? Obama has been a disaster. There was nothing on offer from him, and no record to run on.

I can’t help but feel if Sandy hadn’t occured, and Romney had gone after Obama far more in the last debate it would have been different.

Other thoughts.......

Assuming no cheating went on (who knows), the Rats had a far superior GOTV campaign. We know the turnout model should have looked far different.

It would be interesting to see where both sides spent these two billion dollars. Was too much wasted by RR in states not in play?

How could so many pundits get it so wrong?

How on earth can the worlds most powerful nation have such a poor voter verification system in so many places, completely inept in comparison to even some fairly murky European/S. American countries?

And please please please can we have a ban on reporting voting trends on election day.

Hell, shut off FR during voting hours and encourage people to just get out their vote, and get their neighbours and friends out at the same time.......the reports of massive record turnout in R areas gave great hope, but in reality again assuming minimal voter fraud, it was a nonsense. Most of us here expected a RR win, so the strength of O’s performance was a great source of shock and dissapointment. At least in 08 we knew the score long before.
