(AP) - Government leaders are turning their attention to the next crisis unfolding in the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy: finding housing for potentially tens of thousands of people left homeless.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency said it has already dispensed close to $200 million in emergency housing assistance and has put 34,000 people in the New York and New Jersey metropolitan area up in hotels and motels.
But local, state and federal officials have yet to lay out a specific, comprehensive plan for finding them long-term places to live, even as cold weather sets in. And given the scarcity and high cost of housing in the metropolitan area and the lack of open space, it could prove a monumental undertaking.

Why don’t they use those boxcars and FEMA camps?
Too soon?
they don’t have to, it’s Bush’s fault.
PING!
Yeah, Jeb Bush had no business letting that hurricane get past Florida...
Yes, too soon. A lot of people hurting right now, I have seen it up close.
Don’t come to me for help. That’s the government’s job. We will turn our back on victims that vote for free stuff that the government pays for with our tax money. That’s how they live in Europe, obviously the model for the future in the USA.
If you want to stimulate the economy, this is how you do it. Use those funds to pay for those people to continue to stay in hotels and such. That would benefit the marketplace in so many ways in stricken areas. More people would have jobs too. Those people could get a new home loan, because they got a new job, and the government could help provide a disaster recovery loan with the ‘stimulus’ money.
Either that or the Federal government should get out of the ‘rescue’ business because I’m tired of Barney Frank and friends jamming my money up their behinds to get their rocks off.
How are the folks at issue not responsible for finding their own shelter while working things out with the insurance companies?
Look at who they voted for..
Obumbler, Shumer, Bloomberg, Rangle....
I have no pity for them. The deserve what they got.

Not what I meant, too soon to reveal the FEMA camps.
That being said, having been through hurricanes and aftermaths, I do feel for the people in the impact zone.
