RALEIGH, N.C. — Four in 10 voters in North Carolina believe the nation's economy is on the mend, but still, six in 10 called it their top issue, according to preliminary results of an exit poll conducted for The Associated Press. Among other findings:

ECONOMY IS NO. 1 ISSUE: Voters were split on whether President Barack Obama or Republican challenger Mitt Romney would do a better job handling the economy. Rising prices and unemployment were the economic issues that voters said hit them the hardest. Just more than one in five voters said they were better off now than four years ago.

OBAMA'S JOB: About one in four voters said they were enthusiastic about Obama's administration, and about one in four said they were satisfied with the president. About three in 10 voters said they were dissatisfied and two in 10 said they were angry with the president.

HEALTH CARE: About three out of five voters want some or all of the new health care law supported by Obama appealed.

Romney never stopped running TV ads here in NC. That fact alone tells me he didn’t concede but he probably should have. He has no concept of the worth of money.

I meant Obama never stopped running ads here in NC but he doesn’t have a chance in this state.

Even my hairdresser, a textbook Democrat voter - never-married mom, officially “unemployed,” food stamps, piercings - is voting Romney. If he wins, I’ll give her a humongous tip on the next haircut, figuring my husband’s prospects are nothing but UP if we get Zero out.
