In Florida ID is required. I used my DL and they swiped in through a validation machine that reads the magnetic strip to make sure it is not a forgery. Then it presented data on the screen which the poll worker compared to my DL and Voter card to make sure all information was valid, current and authentic.

...after all was validated I signed a screen. Then a receipt was printed out from the machine, with my signature which the poll worker filed for election records.

We have it good in FL. At my precinct we have paper ballots.

GA does something similar, except the ID check uses an optical reader that checks the hash code on the back of your drivers license.
