dump him, and be sure to know, you weren’t the first to give up on a friendship. Showing someone reality and have them dismiss it will only lead to them searching for others who think like them. Their own happy little world.....sooner or later it collapses around them, what happens after that, is up to them.

Liberals and assholes have one thing in common, they never change their opinions to fit the facts, they change the facts to fit their opinion.

Attention Obama voters. If you like Pepsi and I like Coke, that's matter of taste. That's something we can agree to disagree on. If you want big government and I don't, that's not something we can agree to disagree on. You voting for big government affects me and many other non-consenting people. It is an imposition on everyone who does not want big government. On the other hand, me wanting less government is not an imposition on you. It is to support leaving you and everyone else alone to be free of coercion. See the difference?

One of the dumbest things I've read in awhile.

Not everyone is at the same place in the journey of understanding why people think the way they do.

The poster thinks that liberals rationally think the same way he does.

You said...
“So...tell me...what am I to do with that other than pray for the guy or dismiss our friendship. I am close to doing both. I have a hard time being friends with someone that illogical”

Politics are not worth giving up a friendship over. I have a pro Obama co-worker who thinks things are geting better because she “feels” that they are. Didn’t know last year’s GDP or last Quarter’s or our ranking in World competitiveness or credit rating or number of people on food stamps, ect. ect. Yet, when told about these things, her reply was, “I still feel things are getting better.” I realized at that point that no facts were going to change her mind so I didn’t argue.

The point is there are some people that you will never reach. Facts be damned. Since your friend sounds like one of those, there is no point in arguing and ending a friendship.

On the deathbed, people don’t remember the arguments they’ve won but of the friends they have

It’s a matter of initial assumptions, or worldviews.
If you want to understand how they think,
start with Thomas Sowell’s “Conflict of Visions”.

Encouraging people to vote for a guy that built his fortune on loading companies down with debt and putting people out of work is rational? :dunno:

I have never once heard him say “that’s not the government’s responsibility” on anything.

NOT really true. He has said most things are NOT the Federal Government's job -- IOW, majority of functions -- non defense -- belong to the states.

Dump your liberal friends. Unless they dump you first for expressing your point of view. I only have liberal ex-friends. There isn’t enough oxygen on this planet for both points of view.

My own Fakebook posts leading to, among other things, Thomas Sowell’s books, have made no dent. These people are beyond help. They won’t read anything that rationally explains where they and others are coming from.

Today, I recommend Bret Stephens’ article in the morning WSJ. Quote:

“Except Mr. Obama does not operate according to normal standards. Maybe this is a function of being the first black president. Or maybe it’s because he is our first cult-of-personality president. Other presidents typically inspired affection, respect or even love; or, alternatively, disappointment and loathing. But Mr. Obama was the first president since George Washington to inspire something like worship in his own lifetime. He is a religious figure cast in a political role. As with the United States itself, the ordinary rules don’t always apply.”
