Even here in Massachusetts, we have Republicans in large numbers. Many of them don't bother voting most years because it's a lost cause. So when the lines in and around Boston are short, I know it's going to be a bad day for the Republicans. But when the lines are long even in Boston, the Republicans are turning out too. This happened during the 2010 special election when Scott Brown shocked the country by taking a Massachusetts senate seat. Small town, 24,000 here. At 6:45 the line was at least a hundred feet long, but it moved rapidly.
Legions of Fauxahontas demons holding signs, though. I can only hope the "squaw" (in its original actual meaning) loses.
Another good reason for conservatives in hopelessly blue inner cities (i.e. Boston, Philly, Chicago, etc.) to vote anyhow is to cut down on voter fraud. Every Republican (or Independent) who doesn't show up leaves a ballot behind for the Democrat machine to mark up for Obama and the Democrats.
Don't think this doesn't happen in the inner cities. They count on Republicans not showing so they can mark up ballots under their names and pad the lead for their slate of candidates. This is what enables them to overcome the red vote out in the suburbs and rural areas.
If every Republican shows up to vote today in Philadelphia, then Romney will take the state - guaranteed.
