My understanding from checking around the last day or twoafter emerging from a semi-news blackout last weekis that Christies robust embrace of President Obama did break through and help President Obama rebut part of Romneys closing argument that he can work across the aisle better than the president. Yesterday, the New York Post ran an editorial begging Christie to make a strong show of support for Romney. That kind of show of support might have been particularly important to Romney (and convenient for Christie) in the Philadelphia suburbs. But now its too late.
UPDATE: Jon Ward reports on Christie turning down a Romney request to appear at his Philly-area rally.
Hey Rich! See why we conservatives have issues with RINO’s
now? Welcome to the party pal!
I read somewhere that Obama was on a plane with Springsteen and he called Christie because he knew what a Boss Fanboy Christie is. “Hi, Governor...it’s Bruce...” And since Springsteen has spurned all of Christie’s advances in the past, he’s forever grateful to Barack Woolery far helping make the love connection.
far=for (pffft)
Christie’s “keynote” speech at the RNC was a bit of a letdown. I attributed to it at the time to Christie having an off night but come to think of it, the lackluster performance could have been intentional - sour grapes over not being chosen as running mate.
Mark Levin just transcribed that Springsteen nugget.
What a loser.
I do not believe that for a minute. Christie made it clear he did not want to run as VP...He said he was not ready to do so and he wanted to finish his term as NJ Gov. I do not know how much more clear he could have made it. Pretty clear to me.
Those white orthopedic shoes just completed the picture of a fat, blubbering eunuch. Repulsive.
The level of embrace between Obama and Christie Kind of sent a message. If you want something from Obama then you need to do a lot of kissing to get it. Even in a disaster where people are desperate.
And if you look into why Christie didn't make the VP cut, it was because of his unpredictability and self-serving nature. A President shouldn't have to keep looking over his shoulder to see if his VP is undermining him.
Really! This is stupid. How does one hour of a obama/cristy bromance supercede the very real threat of America’s conversion to socialism, loss of freedom and a total economic meltdown...being brought to you by a second obama term? Really?
I’m still wondering what I heard from him this morning about refusing the free gubmint gas. He said it was because it was a mess across the river in NYC. A search of the news shows little on it in NYC. We all knew it would be a Charlie Foxtrot, but there’s almost no info on it. What does he know that we dont?
With all due respect to these legitimate criticisms about Christie’s praise for Obama, the optics of Christie attending a campaign rally while his state is dealing with a disaster would be awful. I think we’re going a little bit overboard with these conspiracy theories.
A lot of Conservatives couldn’t wait to throw Scott Brown under the bus once the Democrats used Reconciliation as a means of ramming through Obamacare, making his historic Senate victory seem hollow. Brown and Christie are about the best you’ll ever get in Blue states like Mass. and Jersey.
Christie’s got the highest approval rating of any Governor in Jersey since they started taking polls. Christie Whitman and Tom Kean weren’t exactly Tea Party Gadsden flag wavers either.
I can understand having doubts about Christie as a GOP POTUS nominee, but would you rather have someone like Jon Corzine running that state into the ground, rather than a nominal Republican doing a good job turning things around and setting an example for other Blue states to follow?
I heard Christie defending himself on a news clip by saying he didnt do anything wrong by praising Obama for doing a great job on Sandy. I actually cursed that fat SOB out loud in my office. Its stupid Republican jackoffs like this that lose important elections.
-— So, my theory, the cost for Christies betrayal was much less than 30 pieces of silver...it was a promised phone call from Bruce Springsteen. ——
So strange, it’s believable. Christie is weak-willed in at least one respect. Why not two?
It was reminiscent of McCain saying we had nothing to fear from an Obama presidency. In Christie’s case, it took an old tired hack who was becoming an object of derision, and rehabilitated him into a commanding leader who could get things done, could even reach across the aisle. It was stupid. All he did was tour some areas and hand out some money. And things still went to hell. there was no reason to be over the top; just thank Obama for coming out and mention that at a time when the parties disagree on important things like whether we should protect US citizens in foreign consulates, we are glad we can at least agree to work together for storm victims.
This tub-of-goo Springteen fan-boy is a joke. If Mitt gets in I hope they cut him off at the knees. There’s no way on earth that CC was unaware that he was just killing Romney last week....he knew what he was doing.
Glad some real help arrived. I hope life gets more normal for all of you.
I wasn’t too harsh on Chrisie the first day, but his praise when Obama had done nothing was really over the top.
The media would have given Christie the Bush/Katrina treatment and they would have blamed him for everything. Instead, Christie praises Obama and Christie gets a free pass.
His lackluster Keynote Address was all “me, me, me...and, oh yeah..Mitt...me, me, me”
Not often I disagree with Ann Coulter, but Christie’s dead to me.
Christie will be gone in another year now. His new “pals” in the DNC will forget this and his former friends in the GOP won’t. He’ll lose re-election and be a footnote in history.
