In a heavily flooded Staten Island neighborhood, Sara Zavala spent the night under two blankets and layers of clothing because the power was out. She had a propane heater but turned it on for only a couple of hours in the morning

Poor people but you have to wonder if there's any insulation in her house. It's been almost as cold here and my old '73 trailer only drops a few degrees or 5 at most at 32F during the night. And don't most people have at least one sleeping bag in the house?

I prefer sleeping in a cold room and turn the heat off at night. It can get down to mid 40s when the outside temperature goes down to the teens.

We have a whole closet full of sleeping bags and cold weather gear, but we go camping and sometimes it gets mighty cold at night. Our tooth paste has frozen but we are always warm and toasty. Everyone I know has a gas or wood fireplace, a gas grill and a gas stove. Seems like they live in an entirely different world.
