I agree with you. New York City made a big deal about continuing the race and then cancelled it at the last minute after many spent thousands of dollars to come.
And it was cancelled only for politic points.
It should have never come down to the last minute, but still, it was the right call.
This bitch needs to realize that sometimes life sucks, deal with it.
I agree also. Bloomie made it a point to continue to say that the race would go on. Other than Fox, the media played along with the game, minimizing the negative effects of Sandy (presumably to help "The One"). Then, after spending a boatload of money flying into NY and paying for thier rooms (not to mention having already paid the significant entrance fee for the marathon), Bloomie cancelled the bloomin' Marathon.
He should have cancelled it right away, not waited until thousands of people had converged on the city. And while thier travesty pales in comparison to what many are going through, they were hoodwinked by Bloomberg and it costed them needless money and time.
As for the runners, I'd be PO'ed if I had made the trip. It isn't like that money grows on trees. But if I'd already committed to staying in the city, I'd join the hundreds of runners that DID go into the heavily-damaged areas to provide help. You probably won't see that on the evening news because to show that would be to show more damage and "Katrina-like" circumstances that Obambi promised wouldn't happen.
